#RILALINK 2019 Day 1 Links Retail Leaders

Retail is transforming and so are we! This year RILA launched a new brand and introduced LINK, RILA's Retail Supply Chain Conference, reimagined. LINK2019 is the essential link to take your retail supply chain to the future.  LINK2019 links peers. LINK2019 link partners. LINK2019 links retailers and providers alike to a prosperous future. We are excited to provide attendees with the opportunity to get the information they need to drive business results and lasting connections to make their organizations — and ultimately their career — a success.

Welcome to LINK2019!

Jess Dankert, RILA’s Vice President of Supply Chain, welcomes attendees to #RILALINK

Kicking off LINK2019, RILA announced another major win for Retail.  RILA efforts helped delay a 25% tariff increase on $200 billion dollars’ worth of everyday products. Tariffs create uncertainty in the retail supply chain and with the help of our networks and members, we continue to tackle major challenges facing the industry. Stay updated on tariffs by texting #TariffsHurt to 52886.

Reshaping the Customer Experience Through Supply Chain

Keynote speaker Dick Johnson, President, Chairman, and CEO of Foot Locker keynoted LINK2019, covering issues from diversity in supply chain, RFID, mini distribution hubs near population centers and strategies to engage customers with premium products.

“We’ve had to broaden the definition of supply chain. We are thinking about it truly end to end. We have to make our supply chain as seamless as possible and empower our associates to provide a great experience for our customers.”

- Dick Johnson, CEO, Foot Locker

Main Takeaway: It’s no longer enough to just transact with the customers – we’re in the relationship business.

The Shopping Revolution: How Successful Retailers Win Customers in an Era of Endless Disruption.

“Concept that the longer you spend on a website, the more you’ll sell is the same thinking as putting the milk in the back of the grocery store. But that doesn’t make sense from the customer point of view.”

- Barbara Kahn, Wharton School

Barbara Kahn, Director of the Jay H. Baker Retailing Center, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania continued the morning sessions by providing retail leaders with a framework that their companies can use to create a competitive strategy to survive and thrive in today’s — and tomorrow’s disruptive environment.

Main Takeaway: Customer Trust is Vital

Leading to Win

Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women's World Cup champion Abby Wamback challenges retail leaders to emphasize teamwork and the importance of diversity in business.

“As a team, you can’t be competing against each other, you need to compete for each other.”

– Abby Wambach

Main Takeaway: Successful people do not fear failing, they fear complacency
